Miami-Dade County Animal Services

Adopt an animal; save a life! Never buy from a pet store or breeder when Miami Animal Services has hundreds of dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens on any given day, up for adoption. They have probably every breed (including purbreds), size, and color of pet! While the facility may be "disgusting" to some, I think it's pretty well run for just how many animals go through the building each day. They provide useful services, such as vaccines and spay/neuters, as well. 

It's a good place to get an animal because you know you're saving their life from being put to sleep. Please give MDAS a chance, in spite of their weak reputation. Hey, they're run by the city and for the dirty job they have to do, they do a pretty good job!

I was expecting absolute horrible conditions for these animals, extremely happy I was wrong.

The place is pretty large and somewhat organized between large dogs on the west wing, small/medium dogs in the main building as well as cats parsed off to the front.

Very friendly staff on a Sunday afternoon to assist you with reviewing dogs. After a dog is selected you then go to a "meet and greet" area, once decided take a number and wait. Understandably it's a process but in the end you're rescuing an animal that otherwise can be euthanized. 

So glad I found my next member of the family :)
